You made it to my website for one purpose or another, and the answer to the why you are here could be a million different responses. Regardless, I am SO glad that you are here.
In the same way, the reason, the purpose and the point of me being here is because dozens of strings being woven into the fabric of life led me to want to not only document peoples' stories, but to also show them joy and light in those stories. To remind them that THEY have purpose, that they matter, and that whichever season they are in is one worth documenting. This reason for pursuing photography is one that I began to lean into very early on and am still figuring out which capacity I want to pursue it in. Read below for more of my story!
When I was young growing up in Gaffney, SC, I remember that my dad was always the one carrying around a camera during all of our vacations and all of my recitals. It was his thing, and it soon became my thing. You know the lyrics "Back when you were takin' photos on your daddy's Nikon..." in Chelsea Cutler's song "You're Gonna Miss This"? Yeah, that's me.
When I was at a Christian summer camp in the weeks after my ninth grade year, I saw what media in a ministry setting looked like. I saw that the media team there captured authentic worship, authentic joy, authentic brokenness and the redemption of that...and I thought that it was a beautiful thing. To be able to see a person's story and to document moments of it through media is what I felt called to do from then on.
Jesus + People + Media has been my mantra for as long as I can remember, and it's something that I am still discerning. I graduated from North Greenville University in Spring 2022 with a degree in Digital Media. I just recently moved to Augusta, GA, where I work as a Digital Specialist in Student Affairs at a public university. In addition, Kayleigh Joy Photography is a part of my life that I place a lot of my time into and plan to continue to grow in over the next few years.
I want you to know that no matter why or when you are here, that you are LOVED by our Heavenly Father and that I advocate for you in whichever season you are in right now.
